Lemon lemonade
When I boiled the syrup for this lemonade, my daughter came and said, “Now I know, if we don't have a bottle of lemonade at home, you can make it.” (As if she did not know already.) But yes, I can make it, as I have done many times, when there were no proper lemonades available in the market and when it is party time, because there is no celebration without lemonade. Not at our house.
Ingredients
200 g light brown sugar
160 ml water
zest of 2 organic lemons
2 small rosemary sprigs
220 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 l sparkling water
Prepare
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, zest and water. Bring to boil and boil for 15 minutes. Take off the heat and allow to cool to room temperature and strain. Pour into a bottle or a pitcher. Add some syrup and sparkling water (this allows you to add the right amount of syrup to water). When you have achieved the desired sweetness, add some ice and rosemary into a pitcher, pour over the mixed lemonade and serve.
If you want to have a stronger rosemary taste, add the sprigs to the syrup while it is still hot and leave until chilled.
