All pastel. Laine Berina Ceramics

All pastel. Laine Berina Ceramics

She is new, as are her plates. When she started to study at the Art Academy, she had no idea that she would have her own brand and line of tableware so soon. It's only been a year since she started to sell her plates, made in Latvia in the coziest part of the city, in a room where her grandmother used to live. Although they are made here by a Latvian artist, they are oh, so not Latvian, considering that up until last year, artists used only clay and tryied to work around that material. Laine, the owner of Laine Berina ceramics, went in another direction – she stepped out of the ordinary and traditional and started to work with porcelain. White, pastel blue, green, pink, grey – all pastel as pastel can be. She says it was hard to believe in herself, but it has turned out to be a successful step, the one she made a year ago. A step that was followed by many and that many love, as do I. The next plate collection I buy for my home will be made by her. And soon.
