Like the Venetians do. Florian
Sometimes, there are things you just have to do, although you think it is a bit cheesy. But you just have to. And visiting Cafe Florian, the oldest cafe in the world (1720) in San Marco, is that one thing. It is overpriced, but boy, it is so charming. It is like entering another world that hides treasures from past almost 300 years old – the stories of the rich and wealthy and their luxurious lives, followed by the ‘wanna be rich’, and then those who have saved money just to experience something they will not afford for a long time. I have no idea how the cakes taste there, but the best thing is to start with their famous hot chocolate – simple, or like mine Caffè Anniversario Florian 290 ann, with liqueurs and something I usually don't drink at noon. It is another world and although it is as touristy as can be, it is charming and …. that is what it’s all about.
