Because in food I trust. In all forms and shapes.

California. Tomales Bay

California. Tomales Bay

We finished our breakfast and got into the car, promising the girls a day they would love. We drove the winding roads from Sebastopol to the south side, entering Tomales Bay. We stopped at Nicks Cove and walked to the boat shack. It was the first time I saw this place so sunny and bright. The water was shimmering and laughter come from the cabin - friends were having a meal.

We ordered fish and chips, local sparkling wine, and fresh lemonade and sat on the footbridge. The dog tried to steal our fish while we pretended to ignore his desire. The girls threw stones in the water while we watched carefully - so far away from home and enjoying themselves.

Ten minutes later, we stopped at Hog Island Oyster Co. The ground was covered with shells; the air smelled of the ocean, BBQ, and happiness. I ordered fresh and baked oysters, Brickmaiden Breadthat came with butter, and we shared a bottle of beer. People, not minding that it was Wednesday, enjoyed the sun. I did not want to speak as all I wanted to do was to capture the moment.

We left for Pt. Reyes to get a selection of cheeses at Cowgirl Creamery, fresh bread at BrickmaidenBread, and to do some shopping at Toby’s. Then we slowly took ourselves home through Petaluma. I passed by Acre Coffee where they serve fantastic coffee, Seed Bank Shop, and Thistle Meats to arrive in front of my favorite antique shop, which was closed. The city is not large but offers everything you wish for, most importantly, beauty.
