Christmas fooding in London
St. Johns. In France, they call a place that has been around for a long l'institution, meaning an institution, and St. Johns is one of them in London. Make sure to book it very much in advance as the lines are long for this nose-to-tail and local and seasonal concept restaurant.
10 Greek Street. Located in Covent Garden, it is a gem that belongs to a family whose main aim is to serve honest and simple seasonal food with no extra fuss. You might be the only non-British people there as this place is very popular among locals. Once you’ve eaten there, you won’t wonder why. One of the best garlic and chili breads I have ever had. And that steak with triple baked potatoes is a promise that good food does not have to be complicated.
Notto Pasta. With more tourists than other places I might suggest and visit, it is still a superb presentation of how tasty pasta can be. But before that, do start with their focaccia and homemade olives and finish with tiramisu or gorgonzola with honey. Pure joy.
Seven Dials Market. A true heart and soul of street food, buzzing life, noise, energy, and food. In the heart of Covent Garden, this is a must experience London on another scale.
Borough Market. Well, a whole article could be written about this place, and there are books written about it, but none of the articles will deliver the feeling you get by being there, drinking and eating. The choices are vast, so here's a list of things to start with. Monmouth Coffee for coffee. Ginger Pig for sausage rolls. Bread Ahead for the best-ever doughnuts, cinnamon buns, my favorite mince pies, and everything baked. Oak and Smoke for salmon or mackerel-filled bagels. Neal’s Yard for cheese. Elliot’s for lunch or dinner. El Pastor for superb Mexican food.
Arome serves not only stunning but also very different French pastries that include tastes like miso, leek, sausage, and cappuccino, among others. And coffee served in a ceramic cup is beyond exception. It is a very busy and beloved place, and one must be ready to find a place there. A true gem.
Donutelier. Well, this is a story for those who love to indulge in a good doughnut, keeping in mind that these are one step higher, filled and topped with flavours like chestnut, chocolate, macerated cherries, matcha, nuts, mascarpone, and so much more. To eat a doughnut, one must know how to eat it and be prepared to enjoy it fully.
Kuro Bakery in Notting Hill begs you to try their pastries, and if you are a chai latte drinker, you must have one here since that is a very special experience.
Buns From Home have the most succulent and light yet richest buns there are with cardamom, cinnamon, and other flavours.
Prufrock Coffee - coffee and exceptional breakfast.
