Dorner Frères

It was quite a long time since my love affair with Pâtisserie Dorner Frères started, but it was in October 2022, when I was sitting outside on their terrace and eating Tarte Tropézienne, that I knew our love would be strong. Just a month later, we moved to Lyon (not because of Dorner Frères). Ever since, they have been on my top list when looking for amazing pastries, madeleines, biscuits for one or à partager (for sharing). The cake for my 4oth birthday was ordered there as was our 2023 Easter chocolate egg with hazelnut praline.

And, although I do like each of their pastry creations, there are two which I simply adore more than the others, and you will too once you try them. My personal favourites are Paris-Brest and Tarte Tropézienne. Paris-Brest is one of those classical ones with the addition of homemade praline, but Tarte Tropézienne, made from puff pastry, is another story and one that sweeps you off your feet.

So, for those who cannot and do not wish to resist a good pastry, Dorner Frères, even if not located in the heart of the city, is on your list and it is on the top. And do not fear, as the way there, through the streets of the 6th arrondissement, especially if taking Cr Franklin Roosevelt, allows you discover so much more of Lyon than you would expect. And I am unanimous in this.
