6th arrondissement. Lyon
Located just across the bridge from the first arrondissement, the sixth arrondissement of Lyon is considered to be the tranquil district of Lyon. Although some people do not even get as far as this part of the city, I strongly suggest anyone visiting Lyon to spend at least a few hours in the most prestigious and calmest part of this city which I can proudly call my home. Of course, the reason why I praise this part of the city is because we live here. And there is a reason for that, too. Well, because it is the best place to live. The diversity it provides with its calmness is just what one needs when spending life in Lyon. With a walking distance from the heart of this city, it allows you to be present, yet distant. While I can enjoy city life, I do not feel like I am in one. And the proximity of Parc de la Tête d’Or helps vastly.
Coming from a city where one could not survive staying in the same part of the city to enjoy all that life has to offer, it is very different here, as life is built around the arrondissement you live in and the things you need for living, from boulangeries and grocery shops to doctors and something even more specific. So, it is true that I could never leave this part of the city and be happy, and here are the places that make me happy.

Pâtisseries, croissants, cinnamon rolls, pain au chocolat, sandwiches, and corn bread.
Maison DesChamps
My favourite croissants, palmier, pain de mie, brioche, pain perdu, and carrot cake. All organic.
Boulangerie Les Frères Barioz
Bread, croissants, praline tart, focaccia, brioche, and pain de mie. And, pâte de fruits.
Miette
Organic baguettes and other bread, and also the lightest madeleines.
Caroline Hubert Patisserie
For daily and ever-changing pastries and amazing babkas, madeleines, and chocolates.
Dorner Frères
Spectacular pastries, small and large madeleines, chocolates, and their famous hot chocolate during the cold season.
Miss Madeleine
All about madeleines, from simple and light vanilla ones to ones filled with nuts and chocolate, matcha, lemon curd, and even some savoury ones with chorizo and cheese.
Soha cookies
When in search of some of the best cookies in the city.
Aux Merveilleux de Fred
This requires no comments for most, but if it does, some tips. Famous for their meringue cakes and freshly baked Sugar Cramique and waffles.

A classic in Lyon. What they like to call l’institution. A chocolate shop.

Local, regional products from fruits and vegetables to dairy, meat, nuts, and much more. For example, Comté, boiled ham, walnuts, walnut oil, and yogurt.

Nothing compares to A l’Olivier. Everything is wonderful there, but we love their green olives, tapenade classique, figs, and artichoke cream.

A wide selection of cheese for everyone’s taste.

One of the best cheese selections in the sixth arrondissement and in Lyon, too.
